October has been and gone, and with that so has our first crop! We have picked just over 10 tons of beautiful fruit this year – a bit more than we first had anticipated but thanks to the hot dry summer and positive weather throughout key stages in the season, meant we really maximised our yields.
The vines are now shutting down ready for winter, they will store all of their remaining energy reserves ready for the big wake up in Spring next year. The vineyard is displaying some glorious colours at the moment! With the Pinot Noir vines turning a burnt red, Solaris a vibrant yellow whilst the Seyval is still holding onto it’s greenery (for now!).
It’s time to take a well earned break from the vineyard work now, just a few jobs to tidy up, and we’ll wait until after the new year to commence the Winter pruning.
We would just like to thank all our amazing volunteers who all contributed to a successful and enjoyable harvest time, cheers to you all!
