Budburst in the vineyard and exciting launch news!
It’s all kicking off down at the vineyard, with bud burst across the Solaris and Pinot Noir Précoce! The Seyval Blanc is not far behind, it is just emerging from its winter woolly bud.

This is the time of year we need to be aware of spring frosts, as the cold night time temperatures can damage/kill our young shoots and severely affect our yield for the season ahead. So, we head out with our frost buster when the temperature is to drop below 0°C, this machine not only chucks out hot air but the big fan also keeps the air moving. This constant air movement is a really good way to stop the frost from settling on the vines. Zoe headed out on the 25th April as we had a -2°C forecast, protecting the vines from 3am – 7am. There does seem to be a little bit of damage at the lowest point in the vineyard only on the Pinot Noir, but it’s not detrimental so fingers crossed that’s the last of it!

Bottling is in full swing at the winery, the team at Halfpenny Green Wine Estate have bottled both our Still Solaris 2022, and our new Still Pink 2022 – which we cannot wait for you to try! Full of those ripe strawberry notes, our pink is like summer in a glass. And we’re super excited to showcase our star variety, Solaris!

Soon to be labelled and into your glass by June.

Speaking of which, a date for your diaries! Sunday 11th June, we are excited to invite you to our launch for our first 2 releases! Join us in the vineyard for the afternoon to taste the new 2022 vintage and soak up the relaxing nature of the vineyard. More details to come, keep an eye on our social pages for the latest updates

Starting with a big gooseberry and grass nose I’m thinking this is going to be like a good NZ Sauv-Blanc - but it isn’t….. it’s a good English counterpart instead!
A Quest for the Grape, Vivino
Solaris 2021. There is a clean, floral orchard-blossom nose here, which subsides into a lovely, satin-smooth mid-palate and a bright, green apple finish.
