We received some fantastic news from renowned wine critic, Matthew Jukes. He has included us in his list of the Finest Fifty worldwide wines of 2023!
This is what he had to say about our 2022 Still Solaris and 2022 Late Harvest Solaris;
“I am a massive fan of 2022 Rowton Solaris (£15.00, www.rowtonvineyard.co.uk), the dry wine from this estate. It shows brilliant balance, and for a relatively unknown white grape, this is a stunningly tangy and vivacious offering that will broaden peoples’ repertoires in a moment. With tropical hints that lure you in and a grippy and uneasy finish, it keeps your palate on its toes! But there is an even more esoteric Solaris from Rowton that caught my eye earlier in the year, and when I tasted it, I wrote the important double-F in the margin. This is my annotation for a wine that has reserved a spot in The Finest Fifty. This wine is great fun. It is not too sweet with a fresh fruit pudding feel, dominated by greengage tension and Cape gooseberry tension. It finishes ripe and pure but not sweet. I could be drunk as an indulgent aperitif, but I prefer ice cold after a cheese course as the ultimate cleanser! Either way, I can’t imagine many Solaris wines are popping up in ‘best of’ lists this year, so here is one to set the record straight! 18/20 (Drink now – 2025)”
We’re absolutely over the moon that Matthew loved our Late Harvest! Available to purchase on our website or at our various events & markets!
